فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌSo there is not for him here this Day any devoted friendوَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍNor any food except from the discharge of wounds;لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَNone will eat it except the sinners.فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَSo I swear by what you seeوَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَAnd what you do not seeإِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the word of a noble Messenger.وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَAnd it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَNor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِAnd if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings,لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِWe would have seized him by the right hand;ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَThen We would have cut from him the aorta.فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَAnd there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَAnd indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder for the righteous.وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَAnd indeed, We know that among you are deniers.وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَAnd indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِAnd indeed, it is the truth of certainty.فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِSo exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Al-Ma'arij · The Ascending Stairways
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍA supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happenلِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌTo the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ[It is] from Allāh, owner of the ways of ascent.تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍThe angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًاSo be patient with gracious patience.إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًاIndeed, they see it [as] distant,وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًاBut We see it [as] near.يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِOn the Day the sky will be like murky oil,وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِAnd the mountains will be like wool,وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًاAnd no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
