At-Takwir
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْWhen the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْAnd when the stars fall, dispersing,وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْAnd when the mountains are removedوَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْAnd when full-term she-camels are neglectedوَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْAnd when the wild beasts are gatheredوَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْAnd when the seas are filled with flameوَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْAnd when the souls are pairedوَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْAnd when the girl [who was] buried alive is askedبِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْFor what sin she was killedوَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْAnd when the pages are spread [i.e., made public]وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْAnd when the sky is stripped awayوَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْAnd when Hellfire is set ablazeوَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْAnd when Paradise is brought near,عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْA soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِSo I swear by the retreating stars -ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِThose that run [their courses] and disappear [i.e., set]وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَAnd by the night as it closes inوَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَAnd by the dawn when it breathes [i.e., stirs]إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel]ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍObeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍAnd your companion [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) ] is not [at all] mad.وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِAnd he has already seen him [i.e., Gabriel] in the clear horizon.وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍAnd he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍAnd it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَSo where are you going?إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَIt is not except a reminder to the worldsلِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَFor whoever wills among you to take a right course.وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَAnd you do not will except that Allāh wills - Lord of the worlds.
